Q: How can my child attend a school other than their school of residence?
A: To request a transfer to a school other than your school of residence for the 2026-2027 school year, you can complete a transfer request online beginning on January 5, 2026. Please keep in mind that if you are applying to a potentially impacted school, enrollment may be restricted.

Q: If my transfer is approved will transportation be provided to my child?
A: No, MHUSD does not provide transportation outside of a school’s established attendance area.

Q: What is Scribbles?
A: We partner with Scribbles, a software platform that assists in fostering a more equitable and easy access to our transfer process, while being more transparent and responsive to meet the needs of our families and the district. This software allows us to monitor, in real time, the number of active transfers, where families are in the transfer process, as well as create a direct line of communication to help inform our parents/guardians regarding all the steps of our transfer process. Q: When can Transfer Requests be submitted?
A: Transfer requests can be submitted from the first Monday in January after the winter break through the last day of the school year preceding the year for which the request is made. We offer 2 transfer request windows: January 5, 2026 - March 2, 2026, and April 13 - June 5, 2026. Please keep in mind that if you are applying to a potentially impacted school, enrollment may be restricted.

Q: If I made a mistake on my Transfer Request Form, should I submit another one?
A: No, contact the Enrollment Center at 408-201-6030 or enrollment@mhusd.org and we can correct the information on your original request.

Q: Is there a priority for transfers with a sibling at the requested school?
A: Yes, we make every attempt to place siblings at the same school. However, placement of a sibling at one school does not guarantee subsequent placements for siblings during the current or future school years.

Q: If I already have a sibling at our requested school, are we guaranteed a transfer?
A: MHUSD strives to keep siblings at the same school whenever possible. Additional factors are considered when approving transfer requests. In addition to sibling placement, we also consider the capacity of special education programs, when applicable. While this factor is considered in approving transfer requests, it does not guarantee a transfer will be granted.

Q: How are decisions made regarding which transfers are approved?
A: There is no criteria to submit an application for transfer, and if there is space at the school site, you will be sent a conditional approval. By accepting the transfer, you are agreeing to the terms of the transfer contract. During the academic school year your child must:

1.  Maintain 90% attendance (not including successful completion of independent study contracts). This does include all other absences excused or unexcused as outlined in the CA Department of Education.
2. Have no suspensions under Education Code 48900 or 48915 during the academic school year.
3. For secondary, they must have passed all their classes the current year or be on track to graduate with their 4-year graduation cohort. 

If a seat becomes available for your student within the first three weeks of the school year, you will receive an approval email that includes the terms of the transfer contract. Once you accept the seat, you are agreeing to those terms, and your student’s transfer will be finalized. Please keep in mind that if you are applying to a potentially impacted school, enrollment may be restricted.

Q: What if I am not meeting the Criteria of the transfer contract?
A: School sites will review transfer students' records (attendance, behavior, and grades) four (4) times a year, and if a student is not meeting the requirements, a support plan will be put in place. The student will be put on probation.

1. At the mid-year check-in, if a student is off track, the transfer meeting will need to be referred to the Multidisciplinary Team for review.
2. Students who meet the criteria for the year do not need to reapply for transfer the following years; the site now becomes their home school until the next matriculation. The student who does not meet the criteria will be notified of their status in each meeting, and if they are not meeting the criteria, will be given their final notice that they are not eligible to re-apply for transfer the following year.
3. Students whose home school is a DIME/DLI program (San Martin Gwinn and P. A. Walsh) will be given an option to return to one of the overflow sites for those programs.
4. If a school site does not meet with a transfer student or put a support plan in place at the end of the year, when the list for “renewals” goes out from enrollment, a student cannot be denied renewal.
5. Sites will have 2 choices:

a. Students will have met the criteria for transfer, and the site will become their  home school.
b. Student may have not met the criteria but there were extenuating circumstances, and the site can put the student on a transfer contract.

Q: Can I appeal?
A: Appeal Process for internal transfer requests (intras):

1. Please note that appeals are for non-capacity related denials.
2. Please use this form to appeal
3. Appeal to the principal of the site they want to go to
4. Appeal to the Director of Enrollment
5. Appeal to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services

Q: What school will my child attend if I request a transfer and my child has an IEP?
A: The District will consider whether the school to which the parent seeks a transfer has the program identified in the student’s IEP and if said program has capacity. If the desired school offers the program set forth in the student’s IEP and capacity to enroll the student, the District will grant the transfer request. If the desired school does not have the program set forth in the Student’s IEP or does not have capacity in the program set forth in the Student’s IEP, the District will deny the request. There is no
guarantee that a student will be offered the desired school of attendance.

Q: What if my child becomes eligible for special education while on a transfer?
A: If your child is found eligible for special education while on an approved transfer request, the student will be offered the program at the school that offers the program the student requires to receive a FAPE and that has capacity. There is no guarantee that the student will be allowed to remain at the school to which the student transferred via the transfer process.

Q: Can I submit a Transfer Request before I enroll my child?
A: No, you must enroll your child at their school of residence before you submit a Transfer Request. Transfer Requests received for a student that has not completed the online enrollment and turned in all supporting documents to their school of residence will not be processed. Please keep in mind that if you are applying to a potentially impacted school, enrollment may be restricted.

Q: How will I know if my transfer has been approved?
A: Enrollment will contact you via email to inform you when your transfer request has been approved. You can also view the approval on your profile through the Scribbles dashboard.

Q: Once my Transfer Request has been approved, how long does it last?
A: Once a transfer request is granted, the approved school becomes your “home” school through the highest grade at that school, as long as the student is in good standing as outlined in the transfer acceptance contract. There is no need to submit another request each year. However, if you want to return to your original school of residence or transfer to another school, you will need to complete a new transfer request form. It is not recommended that a student be moved repeatedly as it can have a negative effect on their academic achievement.

If you transfer from a K-8 school to a K-5 school you are not guaranteed to return to the K-8 school for 6th grade. A transfer request must be submitted to request a student be returned to the K-8 school. Approval will be determined by the capacity and available seats, as well as other criteria described above.

Q: Is there any benefit to submitting a Transfer Request Form early or does the district use a lottery?
A: MHUSD will use a lottery to allocate seats for all schools and grade levels. Please refer to the Lottery FAQ’s. Please keep in mind that if you are applying to a potentially impacted school, enrollment may be restricted.

Note: Additional factors may be considered in granting transfer requests including siblings, students of all MHUSD employees who are represented by a bargaining unit, and special program needs.

Q: My transfer request was approved but I’ve decided to stay at my school of residence, what should I do?
A: Once a transfer is approved the parent/guardian has 7 days to decline the transfer. Students who would like to return to their school of residence after the 7 days must apply through the transfer request process. 

Q: Does my transfer request expire?
A: Transfer requests are accepted beginning the first Thursday in January for the next school year. Transfers will continue to be accepted through the last day of school of the preceding year for which the request is being made. All pending transfer requests will expire within the first 3 weeks of school for the applicable year. Parents will be emailed by the end of the following week of school if the request cannot be granted.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of times I can change schools?
A: A stable school environment contributes to the academic and social success of students. Therefore, we try to limit transfers to one in elementary school, one in middle school and one in high school. Additional transfer requests may be denied.

Q: Why would I need an Interdistrict Transfer?
A: If you reside within the attendance area of one school district and want your child to attend a school in a different district, you would need to complete an Interdistrict Transfer Request.

Q: I live in Morgan Hill but I want my child to attend a school in another district. What should I do?
A: Submit an Interdistrict Transfer Request to MHUSD. Once you submit the form, the Enrollment Center will be notified. They will review the request and either approve or deny your student to be released. If your student has an IEP, our Director of Special Education will review the request and then either release or deny the request:

• Once approved, your request will be forwarded to your requested school district and you will be notified. Your requested district will then either approve or deny your request and contact you with their decision. Both school districts must approve the request before the student begins attending a new school. 
• If your request is denied by your residence school district, you will be notified, as well. 

Q: I live outside of MHUSD attendance area but want my child to attend a MHUSD school, what do I do?
A: Contact the district in which you reside and request an Interdistrict Transfer. These are now managed online at most school districts, so search for the form on their website. Complete the form and submit it, either online or to their office, whatever their procedure. Once they release your child from their district, they will forward your request to the MHUSD Enrollment Center for review. 

Once we receive the request, we will provide you with the link to our transfer request platform, Scribbles, so your student can be included in the lotteries in the Spring. Please refer to the Lottery FAQ’s for clarification on this process. We will then notify you as to whether your request has been approved or denied.

Q: My child currently attends a MHUSD school, but we’ve moved out of the area. Do we need to do an Interdistrict Transfer Request in order to remain at the current school?
A: Most likely, yes. Whenever you change addresses, you are required to alert your current school’s office staff. They will let you know if you need to submit an Interdistrict Transfer Request to stay at that school and will explain the process to you. Your student may continue to attend their current school for up to 10 days while your request is being reviewed by both districts.

Q: When does MHUSD begin accepting Interdistrict Transfers for the next school year?
A: The interdistrict transfer request window opens the first Thursday in January for both incoming and outgoing requests.The interdistrict transfer requests will be reviewed as follows:

● Outgoing interdistrict transfer requests will be received and reviewed. If approved/released, they will be provided to the requested school district for their review.

● We will receive Incoming renewal and new interdistrict transfer requests beginning the first Thursday in January. Once we receive the request, we will provide you with the link to our transfer request platform, Scribbles, so your student can be included in the lotteries in the Spring. Please refer to the Lottery FAQ’s for clarification on this process. Parents are required to obtain an approved transfer request each year. Prior approval does not guarantee an interdistrict transfer will be granted for the new school year and may be denied if the student has not met criteria outlined in the transfer agreement which includes, but is not limited to, acceptable attendance and behavior:

○ Student must maintain 90% attendance (not including successful completion of independent study contracts). This does include all other absences excused or unexcused as outlined in the CA Department of Education: LINK.
○ Student must have no suspensions under Education Code 48900 or 48915 during the current school year.
○ For secondary, they must have passed all their classes the current year or be on track to graduate with their 4-year graduation cohort.

Q: When will I hear whether my request is approved?
A: If you submit a request for the current school year you will be notified by email within 30 calendar days of the district’s decision. If your request is for the next school year, the request will be included in the lotteries in the Spring.  We will notify you by email as soon as we are able to but no later than 14 calendar days after the beginning of instruction in the school year for which the interdistrict transfer is sought.
● A “current year request” is an interdistrict transfer request received starting 15 days before school begins for the school year. (Education Code § 46600.1(c).)
● A “future year request” is a request received up until 15 days before school begins for the school year. (Education Code § 46600.1(e).)
● All pending requests expire on October 1st of the school year for which the request has been submitted. A new request will need to be submitted for any subsequent year.

Q: Are any priorities given to Interdistrict requests?
A: Per MHUSD policy we give preference to siblings of current students, children of permanent MHUSD employees, children of parents who work within the boundaries of MHUSD, and to students that are renewing their previous Interdistrict Transfer. There may be other extenuating circumstances, and those are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Q: On what grounds would my request be denied?
A: Requests may be denied if:

● The requested school/program is already at capacity.
● The student has a poor discipline or attendance record, and/or poor grades in secondary.

● MHUSD honors Allen Bill transfers, a parent/guardian who physically works within the boundaries of MHUSD for a minimum of 10 hours per week, school days only. Once admitted to MHUSD, the student’s transfer may be revoked only if the parent ceases to be employed within the boundaries of the district.

Q: Can I appeal a denied transfer?
A: Yes, according to California Ed Code 46601 you may appeal this denial to the County Board of Education within 30 calendar days of our decision. For further information on the appeals process visit the County Office of Education website at

You can call (408) 453-6869 for the necessary documents to begin the appeals process.
If no appeal is made within 30 calendar days of the decision the district will deem your original request abandoned.

Q: If my child is attending school on an Interdistrict Transfer, would it ever be revoked or rescinded?
A: MHUSD believes in continuity of education for all students. While we maintain the right to revoke or rescind a transfer request based on poor attendance, academic performance, or discipline,  we attempt to maintain all interdistrict transfers for the entire year. However, those who demonstrate poor attendance, academic performance, or discipline may have their transfer rescinded or revoked mid-year.

Q: My Interdistrict Transfer was denied. What do I do now?
A: Compulsory education begins at 6 years of age. If your interdistrict transfer request is denied, you must ensure your child is enrolled in their school of residence if they are between the ages of 6 and 18. Even if you plan to appeal the decision of the outgoing or incoming district, your child must be enrolled in and attending school while your appeal is scheduled and heard by the Santa Clara County Board of Education. Keeping your child out of school may result in your child being deemed truant, which may include penalties and fines.

Q: Why MHUSD May Approve or Deny an Interdistrict Transfer Request
A: The transfer may be withdrawn by either district any time the student’s attendance, achievement or behavior does not meet the reasonable expectations of school officials. In addition interdistrict transfers may be denied due to capacity. 

For interdistrict transfer requests received 15 or fewer calendar days before the start of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, MHUSD must notify parents of its final decision within 30 calendar days of receiving the request.  

For requests received 16 or more calendar days before the start of the school year for which the transfer is sought, MHUSD must notify parents as soon as possible but not later than 14 calendar days after the start of instruction in that school year.

If a request for the current or future year transfer is denied, MHUSD must notify parents, in writing, of their right to appeal the denial within 30 calendar days to Santa Clara County Board of Education Opens in New Window.

Interdistrict Board Policy

The transfer may be withdrawn by either district any time the student’s attendance, achievement or behavior does not meet the reasonable expectations of school officials.

Failure to adhere to timelines set forth by the Morgan Hill Unified School District may be deemed an abandonment of the request for an interdistrict transfer.

P: ¿Cómo puede mi hijo asistir a una escuela que no sea su escuela de residencia?

P: ¿Cuándo se pueden enviar las solicitudes de transferencia?
R: Las solicitudes de transferencia pueden presentarse desde el primer lunes de enero, después de las vacaciones de invierno, hasta el último día del año escolar anterior al año para el que se solicita. Si bien este factor se considera al aprobar solicitudes de transferencia, no garantiza que se conceda una transferencia.

P: ¿Cómo se toman las decisiones respecto de qué transferencias se aprueban?
R: No existe ningún criterio para presentar una solicitud de transferencia y, si hay espacio en el sitio escolar, se le enviará una aprobación condicional. Al aceptar la transferencia, usted acepta los términos del contrato de transferencia. Durante el año escolar académico su hijo debe:

1. Mantener el 90% de asistencia (sin incluir la finalización exitosa de contratos de estudio independiente). Esto incluye todas las demás ausencias justificadas o injustificadas como se describe en el Departamento de Educación de CA.
2. No tener suspensiones bajo el Código de Educación 48900 o 48915 durante el año escolar académico.

P: ¿Qué pasa si no cumplo con los criterios del contrato de transferencia?
R: Las escuelas revisarán los registros de los estudiantes transferidos (asistencia, comportamiento y calificaciones) cuatro (4) veces al año, y si un estudiante no cumple con los requisitos, se implementará un plan de apoyo. El estudiante será puesto a prueba.

1. En el registro de mitad de año, si un estudiante no está en camino, la reunión de transferencia deberá remitirse al Equipo Multidisciplinario para su revisión.
2. Los estudiantes que cumplan con los criterios para el año no necesitan volver a solicitar la transferencia los años siguientes; el sitio ahora se convierte en su escuela local hasta la próxima matriculación. El estudiante que no cumpla con los criterios será notificado de su estado en cada reunión y, si no cumple con los criterios, se le dará un aviso final de que no es elegible para volver a solicitar la transferencia el año siguiente.
3. Los estudiantes cuya escuela de origen sea un programa DIME/DLI (San Martin Gwinn y P. A. Walsh) tendrán la opción de regresar a uno de los sitios adicionales para esos programas.
4. Si un sitio escolar no se reúne con un estudiante transferido o no implementa un plan de apoyo al final del año, cuando la lista de “renovaciones” sale de la inscripción, no se le puede negar la renovación a un estudiante.
5. Los sitios tendrán 2 opciones:
   a. Los estudiantes habrán cumplido con los criterios de transferencia y el sitio se convertirá en su escuela de origen.
   b. Es posible que el estudiante no haya cumplido con los criterios, pero hubo circunstancias atenuantes y el sitio puede otorgarle un contrato de transferencia.

P: ¿Puedo apelar?
A: Proceso de Apelación para solicitudes de transferencia interna (intras):

1. Tenga en cuenta que las apelaciones son para denegaciones no relacionadas con la capacidad.
2. Utilice este formulario para apelar
3. Apelar al director del sitio al que quieren ir.
4. Apelación al Director de Inscripción
5. Apelación al Superintendente Adjunto de Servicios Educativos

P: ¿A qué escuela asistirá mi hijo si solicito una transferencia y mi hijo tiene un IEP?
R: El Distrito considerará si la escuela a la que el padre busca una transferencia tiene el programa identificado en el IEP del estudiante y si dicho programa tiene capacidad. Si la escuela deseada ofrece el programa establecido en el IEP del estudiante y la capacidad para inscribirlo, el Distrito concederá la solicitud de transferencia. Si la escuela deseada no tiene el programa establecido en el IEP del estudiante o no tiene capacidad en el programa establecido en el IEP del estudiante, el Distrito negará la solicitud. no hay garantizar que al estudiante se le ofrecerá la escuela de asistencia deseada.

P: ¿Qué pasa si mi hijo se vuelve elegible para recibir educación especial mientras se encuentra en una transferencia?
R: Si se determina que su hijo es elegible para educación especial mientras tiene una solicitud de transferencia aprobada, se le ofrecerá el programa en la escuela que ofrece el programa que el estudiante requiere para recibir una FAPE y que tenga capacidad. No hay garantía de que al estudiante se le permitirá permanecer en la escuela a la que se transfirió mediante el proceso de transferencia.

P: ¿Puedo enviar una Solicitud de transferencia antes de inscribir a mi hijo?
R: No, debe inscribir a su hijo en su escuela de residencia antes de enviar una Solicitud de transferencia. Las solicitudes de transferencia recibidas para un estudiante que no haya completado la inscripción en línea y no haya entregado todos los documentos de respaldo a su escuela de residencia no se procesarán. Tenga en cuenta que si está solicitando ingreso a una escuela potencialmente afectada, la inscripción puede estar restringida.

P: ¿Cómo sabré si mi transferencia ha sido aprobada?
R: Enrollment se comunicará con usted por correo electrónico para informarle cuando se haya aprobado su solicitud de transferencia. También puede ver la aprobación en su perfil a través del panel de Scribbles.

P: Una vez aprobada mi Solicitud de Transferencia, ¿cuánto tiempo dura?
R: Una vez que se concede una solicitud de transferencia, la escuela aprobada se convierte en su escuela “de origen” hasta el grado más alto en esa escuela, siempre y cuando el estudiante esté al día con sus obligaciones como se describe en el contrato de aceptación de transferencia. No es necesario presentar otra solicitud cada año. Sin embargo, si desea regresar a su escuela de residencia original o transferirse a otra escuela, deberá completar un nuevo formulario de solicitud de transferencia. No se recomienda que un estudiante sea trasladado repetidamente ya que puede tener un efecto negativo en su rendimiento académico.

Si se transfiere de una escuela K-8 a una escuela K-5, no se garantiza que regresará a la escuela K-8 para el sexto grado. Se debe presentar una solicitud de transferencia para solicitar que un estudiante regrese a la escuela K-8. La aprobación estará determinada por la capacidad y los asientos disponibles, así como por otros criterios descritos anteriormente.

P: ¿Hay algún beneficio al enviar un Formulario de Solicitud de Transferencia anticipadamente o el distrito utiliza una lotería?
R: MHUSD utilizará una lotería para asignar asientos para todas las escuelas y niveles de grado. Consulte las preguntas frecuentes sobre la lotería. Tenga en cuenta que si está solicitando ingreso a una escuela potencialmente afectada, la inscripción puede estar restringida.

P: Mi solicitud de transferencia fue aprobada pero he decidido quedarme en mi escuela de residencia, ¿qué debo hacer?
R: Una vez que se aprueba una transferencia, el padre/tutor tiene 7 días para rechazar la transferencia. Los estudiantes que deseen regresar a su escuela de residencia después de los 7 días deben presentar su solicitud a través del proceso de solicitud de transferencia.

P: ¿Mi solicitud de transferencia caduca?
R: Las solicitudes de transferencia se aceptan a partir del primer jueves de enero para el próximo año escolar. Se seguirán aceptando transferencias hasta el último día de clases del año anterior para el cual se realiza la solicitud. Todas las solicitudes de transferencia pendientes vencerán dentro de las primeras 3 semanas de clases para el año correspondiente. Se enviará un correo electrónico a los padres al final de la siguiente semana de clases si no se puede conceder la solicitud.

P: ¿Existe un límite en la cantidad de veces que puedo cambiar de escuela?
R: Un ambiente escolar estable contribuye al éxito académico y social de los estudiantes. Por lo tanto, tratamos de limitar las transferencias a una en la escuela primaria, una en la escuela intermedia y otra en la escuela secundaria. Es posible que se rechacen solicitudes de transferencia adicionales.

P: ¿Por qué necesitaría una transferencia entre distritos?

R: Si reside dentro del área de asistencia de un distrito escolar y desea que su hijo asista a una escuela en un distrito diferente, deberá completar una Solicitud de transferencia entre distritos.

P: Vivo en Morgan Hill pero quiero que mi hijo asista a una escuela en otro distrito. ¿Qué tengo que hacer?

R: Envíe una solicitud de transferencia entre distritos al MHUSD. Una vez que envíe el formulario, se notificará al Centro de inscripción. Ellos revisarán la solicitud y aprobarán o negarán la salida de su estudiante. Si su estudiante tiene un IEP, nuestro Director de Educación Especial revisará la solicitud y luego la liberará o la negará:

• Una vez aprobada, su solicitud se enviará al distrito escolar solicitado y se le notificará. El distrito solicitado aprobará o rechazará su solicitud y se comunicará con usted para informarle su decisión. Ambos distritos escolares deben aprobar la solicitud antes de que el estudiante comience a asistir a una nueva escuela. 
• Si el distrito escolar de su residencia rechaza su solicitud, también se le notificará.

P: Vivo fuera del área de asistencia de MHUSD pero quiero que mi hijo asista a una escuela de MHUSD, ¿qué debo hacer?

R: Comuníquese con el distrito en el que reside y solicite una transferencia entre distritos. Estos ahora se administran en línea en la mayoría de los distritos escolares, así que busque el formulario en su sitio web. Complete el formulario y envíelo, ya sea en línea o en su oficina, cualquiera que sea su procedimiento. Una vez que liberen a su hijo de su distrito, enviarán su solicitud al Centro de inscripción de MHUSD para su revisión. 

Una vez que recibamos la solicitud, le proporcionaremos el enlace a nuestra plataforma de solicitud de transferencia, Scribbles, para que su estudiante pueda ser incluido en las loterías de primavera. P: Mi hijo actualmente asiste a una escuela del MHUSD, pero nos mudamos fuera del área. ¿Necesitamos hacer una Solicitud de transferencia entre distritos para permanecer en la escuela actual?

R: Lo más probable es que sí. Siempre que cambie de dirección, deberá avisar al personal de la oficina de su escuela actual. Le informarán si necesita presentar una Solicitud de transferencia entre distritos para permanecer en esa escuela y le explicarán el proceso. Su estudiante puede continuar asistiendo a su escuela actual por hasta 10 días mientras ambos distritos revisan su solicitud.

P: ¿Cuándo comenzará MHUSD a aceptar transferencias entre distritos para el próximo año escolar?

R: La ventana de solicitud de transferencia entre distritos se abre el primer jueves de enero para solicitudes entrantes y salientes. Las solicitudes de transferencia entre distritos se revisarán de la siguiente manera:

● Se recibirán y revisarán las solicitudes de transferencia salientes entre distritos. Si se aprueban o se publican, se proporcionarán al distrito escolar solicitado para su revisión.

● Recibiremos solicitudes entrantes de renovación y nuevas transferencias entre distritos a partir del primer jueves de enero. Una vez que recibamos la solicitud, le proporcionaremos el enlace a nuestra plataforma de solicitud de transferencia, Scribbles, para que su estudiante pueda ser incluido en las loterías de primavera. Consulte las preguntas frecuentes de la Lotería para obtener aclaraciones sobre este proceso. Los padres deben obtener una solicitud de transferencia aprobada cada año. La aprobación previa no garantiza que se otorgará una transferencia entre distritos para el nuevo año escolar y puede negarse si el estudiante no ha cumplido con los criterios descritos en el acuerdo de transferencia que incluye, entre otros, asistencia y comportamiento aceptables:

○ El estudiante debe mantener el 90% de asistencia (sin incluir la finalización exitosa de contratos de estudio independiente). Esto incluye todas las demás ausencias justificadas o injustificadas como se describe en el Departamento de Educación de CA: ENLACE.

○ El estudiante no debe tener suspensiones según el Código de Educación 48900 o 48915 durante el año escolar actual.

○ Para secundaria, deben haber aprobado todas sus clases el año actual o estar en camino de graduarse con su cohorte de graduación de 4 años.

P: ¿Cuándo sabré si mi solicitud fue aprobada?

R: Si envía una solicitud para el año escolar actual, se le notificará por correo electrónico dentro de los 30 días calendario posteriores a la decisión del distrito. Si su solicitud es para el próximo año escolar, la solicitud se incluirá en las loterías de la primavera.  Le notificaremos por correo electrónico tan pronto como podamos, pero a más tardar 14 días calendario después del comienzo de la instrucción en el año escolar para el cual se solicita la transferencia entre distritos.

● Una “solicitud del año actual” es una solicitud de transferencia entre distritos recibida a partir de 15 días antes de que comiencen las clases para el año escolar. (Código de Educación § 46600.1(c).)

● Una “solicitud de año futuro” es una solicitud recibida hasta 15 días antes de que comiencen las clases para el año escolar. (Código de Educación § 46600.1(e).)

● Todas las solicitudes pendientes vencen el 1 de octubre del año escolar para el cual se presentó la solicitud. Será necesario presentar una nueva solicitud para cualquier año posterior.

P: ¿Se da alguna prioridad a las solicitudes entre distritos?

R: Según la política de MHUSD, damos preferencia a los hermanos de estudiantes actuales, hijos de empleados permanentes de MHUSD, hijos de padres que trabajan dentro de los límites de MHUSD y a estudiantes que están renovando su transferencia interdistrital anterior. Puede haber otras circunstancias atenuantes, que se revisan caso por caso.

P: ¿Por qué motivos se denegaría mi solicitud?

R: Las solicitudes pueden rechazarse si:

● La escuela/programa solicitado ya está lleno.

● El estudiante tiene un historial deficiente de disciplina o asistencia y/o malas calificaciones en la secundaria.

● MHUSD honra las transferencias de Allen Bill, un padre/tutor que trabaja físicamente dentro de los límites de MHUSD por un mínimo de 10 horas por semana, solo en días escolares. Una vez admitido en MHUSD, la transferencia del estudiante puede revocarse sólo si el padre deja de trabajar dentro de los límites del distrito.

P: ¿Puedo apelar una transferencia denegada?

R: Sí, de acuerdo con el Código de Educación de California 46601, puede apelar esta denegación ante la Junta de Educación del Condado dentro de los 30 días calendario posteriores a nuestra decisión. P: Si mi hijo asiste a la escuela mediante una transferencia entre distritos, ¿alguna vez sería revocada o rescindida?

R: MHUSD cree en la continuidad de la educación para todos los estudiantes. Si bien mantenemos el derecho de revocar o rescindir una solicitud de transferencia basada en mala asistencia, desempeño académico o disciplina, intentamos mantener todas las transferencias entre distritos durante todo el año. Sin embargo, a aquellos que demuestren mala asistencia, rendimiento académico o disciplina se les puede rescindir o revocar su transferencia a mitad de año.

P: Mi transferencia entre distritos fue denegada. ¿Qué hago ahora?

R: La educación obligatoria comienza a los 6 años. Si se rechaza su solicitud de transferencia entre distritos, debe asegurarse de que su hijo esté inscrito en su escuela de residencia si tiene entre 6 y 18 años. Incluso si planea apelar la decisión del distrito entrante o saliente, su hijo debe ser está matriculado y asistiendo a la escuela mientras su apelación está programada y es escuchada por la Junta de Educación del Condado de Santa Clara. Mantener a su hijo fuera de la escuela puede resultar en que se le considere ausente sin permiso, lo que puede incluir sanciones y multas.

P: ¿Por qué el MHUSD puede aprobar o denegar una solicitud de transferencia entre distritos?

R: Cualquiera de los distritos puede retirar la transferencia en cualquier momento en que la asistencia, el rendimiento o el comportamiento del estudiante no cumplan con las expectativas razonables de los funcionarios escolares. Además, es posible que se nieguen los traslados entre distritos debido a la capacidad.

Para las solicitudes de transferencia entre distritos recibidas 15 o menos días calendario antes del inicio de la instrucción en el año escolar para el cual se solicita la transferencia, MHUSD debe notificar a los padres de su decisión final dentro de los 30 días calendario posteriores a la recepción de la solicitud.

Para las solicitudes recibidas 16 o más días calendario antes del inicio del año escolar para el cual se solicita la transferencia, MHUSD debe notificar a los padres lo antes posible, pero no más tarde de 14 días calendario después del inicio de la instrucción en ese año escolar.

Si se rechaza una solicitud para la transferencia del año actual o futuro, MHUSD debe notificar a los padres, por escrito, de su derecho a apelar la denegación dentro de los 30 días calendario a la Junta de Educación del Condado de Santa Clara Opens in New Window.
