The K-8 Summer Learning Program takes place each June and July at one of the district’s elementary school campuses. It is open to MHUSD students currently enrolled in TK through seventh grade who will be entering kindergarten through eighth grade in the fall.

Funding for the program comes from the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), which serves specific student groups in TK through sixth grade, including foster youth, students experiencing homelessness, English learners, and students eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Students in these groups are given priority enrollment. Remaining spaces, including those for other grade levels, are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications are typically available in March, and families are typically notified of enrollment or waitlist status in April.

This in-person course for MHUSD students is held each June and July on campus alongside the high school credit recovery program. It is designed for current 8th-grade students who would benefit from additional practice to prepare for a successful start to 9th grade in the fall. Students are referred to the program by their middle school academic counselors.

This summer program for MHUSD students is held each June and July at one of the district’s secondary campuses. High school academic counselors enroll students who need to recover credits not earned during the school year. Courses may be offered in person or online, with all assessments completed on campus.

This program is offered in August to support students transitioning from 5th grade to 6th grade in MHUSD. WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) is a middle school transition program that welcomes and supports incoming 6th graders. Selected 8th-grade students, called WEB Leaders, serve as positive role models and mentors—not just on the first day of school, but throughout the entire year. Through activities, check-ins, and school-wide events, WEB helps 6th graders feel safe, connected, and confident as they navigate their new school.

This August program welcomes incoming 9th-grade students to their MHUSD high school community. Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes and supports incoming 9th graders. Selected 11th and 12th-grade students, called Link Leaders, serve as positive role models, mentors, and guides—not just at orientation, but throughout the entire freshman year. Through small-group activities, check-ins, and follow-up events, Link Crew helps freshmen feel connected, confident, and part of the school community from day one.
