Our Mission

Our team is committed to connecting students and their families to

resources that set them up for a successful school year while

providing support for their overall well being.

We do this by nurturing relationships within the district,

our community and partnering with organizations that provide

supplemental support for our students needs.

School Linked Services

Our School-Linked Services (SLS) Coordinators connect students, families, and schools with the resources they need to thrive — bridging education, health, and community support.

What We Do:

Coordinate Student Support: Wellness checks, workshops, and family events that promote mental health, safety, and well-being.

Connect Families to Resources: Access to mental health care, food assistance, after-school programs, and more.

Strengthen School-Community Partnerships: Collaboration with teachers, administrators, and local organizations to bring programs directly to school sites.

Support Parent Engagement: Information, resources, and bilingual workshops to ensure all families feel welcomed and included.

McKinney-Vento Act

According to the McKinney-Vento Act, children and youth through age 17 who are living apart from their parents or guardians, are considered "Unaccompanied." The Act states, a child or youth “not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian.” This means a child or youth has the right to immediate enrollment in school, without the consent of a parent or guardian. A student who is considered homeless (lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence) and unaccompanied (not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian) can be registered as an unaccompanied homeless youth under the McKinney-Vento Act.

A student who is not homeless, even though residing with a person other than the parent or court appointed guardian, does not qualify as an unaccompanied homeless youth under the McKinney-Vento Act.

Youth Homeless Education Rights

Students experiencing homelessness have the right to a free public education. Eligible youth can:

Enroll in school immediately, even without the usual documents.
Stay in their school of origin (the last school they attended or where they were last enrolled) or attend the local school.
Receive transportation to and from their school of origin, if requested.
Access the same educational services as other students.

Students may qualify if they live in shelters, motels, campgrounds, cars, parks, abandoned buildings, bus/train stations, or are doubled up with others due to loss of housing or hardship. For help, families can contact the district’s local liaison, the State Coordinator, or the National Center for Homeless Education at 1-800-308-2145 or homeless@serve.org

Parent Homeless Education Rights

Parents of children and youth experiencing homelessness have the right to ensure their children:

Receive a free public education.
Enroll in school immediately without required documents.
Continue at their school of origin or enroll in the local school, based on the family’s preference.
Get transportation to the school of origin, if requested.
Receive educational services equal to those offered to other students.

TUPE

Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) is a comprehensive evidence-based tobacco use prevention, youth development, intervention, and cessation program. The purpose of the TUPE program is to reduce youth tobacco use by helping students make healthy decisions through tobacco-specific educational instruction and activities that build knowledge as well as social skills and youth development assets. About the Peer Advocate Program

The Peer Advocate Program is open to all 6th to 12th grade students in Santa Clara County including youth with non-traditional leadership skills and youth with lived experience. The program teaches students to become leaders in offering peer-to-peer support to spread the tobacco and drug-free message on campus.
