Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment

Our Mission

The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment is dedicated to embracing a growth mindset and ensuring that every student experiences meaningful learning and growth. Guided by a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), the department uses multiple measures such as i-Ready, the Reading Difficulties Risk Screener, CAASPP, and local assessments to identify student needs and inform instruction.

The department’s work centers on providing high-quality curriculum and instructional practices. Newly adopted programs such as Benchmark Advance/Adelante for dual language immersion and Heggerty Phonics (K-3) equip teachers with strong tools to support literacy, while cross-site math collaboration through partnerships with California Educational Partners and Silicon Valley Mathematics Initiative (SMVI) deepens instructional practice. The department prioritizes professional learning, coaching, and opportunities for teachers to share expertise through classroom visits and peer collaboration.

In addition, the department supports play-based TK learning, summer learning programs, and enrichment opportunities throughout the school day. Through these efforts, the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment ensures that all students are well prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
