Introduction to Computer Science:

Introduction to Computer Science is the first course in the Software and Systems Development CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. It is open to all students at any level!

AP CS: Principles:

AP Computer Science Principles is a course in the Software and Systems Development CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. It is open to all 10th-12th grade students at Sobrato. There is no prerequisite, but we recommend taking Introduction to Computer Science first if you can.

AP CS A:

AP Computer Science A in Java is the highest Computer Science course offered in the Software and Systems Development CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. It focuses on the foundations of Java. You must have taken Introduction to Computer Science or AP Computer Science Principles before taking this course.

Agriculture Biology:

Agriculture Biology is a course in the Agriculture Science CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This is a first time course open to all students at any level.

Food Science:

Food Science is a course in the Agriculture Science CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This course provides students an opportunity to explore scientific principles of food preparation and processing. Evaluative techniques will be used to compare a wide variety of food products. Students will explore career opportunities and research current events in the food science field. Food Science is a first time course open to all students at any level.

Soil Chemistry:

Soil Chemistry is a course in the Agriculture Science CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This course is open to all tenth grade students - there are no prerequisites before taking this course.

Veterinary Science:

Veterinary Science is a course in the Agriculture Science CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. Veterinary Science courses impart information about the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries of animals, typically emphasizing domestic and farm animals. Course topics focus on anatomy and physiology, nutrition, behavior, and reproduction, sanitation, and use of veterinary supplies and equipment. Art and History of Floral Design:

Art and History of Floral Design is a course in the Agricultural Business CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This course involves the fundamentals of floral design theory, techniques, and skills currently practiced in the floral design industry. Art and History of Floral Design is open to all 11th and 12th grade students

Horticulture:

Horticulture is a course in the Agricultural Business CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This course exposes students to the art and science of growing plants, shrubs, trees, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Horticulture is open to all 11th and 12th grade students and there are no prerequisites.

Agriculture Sales and Service:

Agriculture Sales and Service (also known as Agriculture Leadership) is a course in the Agricultural Business CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This course teaches students different service and sales techniques, leadership, public speaking, and employability skills. Agriculture Sales and Service is open to all 10th - 12th grade students and is designed for student leaders within the FFA Organization or students interested in being more involved in FFA.

Agriculture Mechanics:

Agriculture Mechanics is a course in the Agriculture Mechanics CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This course provides theory and hands-on experiences that provide opportunities for students to develop basic knowledge and skills in agricultural mechanics. Instructional areas include the basic fundamentals of maintaining and repairing small gasoline engines, basic electricity, welding, construction, cold metal work, and operating agricultural equipment safely. Agriculture Mechanics is a first time course open to all students at any level.

Drama 1 CP:

Drama 1 CP is a course in the Performing Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This class is beneficial for students who are interested in a career in acting or any career that involves public speaking and critical thinking. Topics covered include character development, script analysis, and improv theatre. Drama 1 CP is open to all students and grade levels.

Advanced Drama:

Advanced Drama is a course in the Performing Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. If you are considering a career in film, television, theatre, or acting, this class will provide you with the advancing skills to perform in those industries. Some of the topics covered are character development, musical theatre, theatre history, and audition and performance techniques. Advanced Drama is geared towards 10th-12th grade students who have passed Drama 1.

Stagecraft 1:

Stagecraft 1 is a course in the Production and Managerial Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. The skills taught in this class will be beneficial for students interested in technical theatre as well as any students interested in any other construction or building career. Students will work on sets, lighting, costumes, makeup, and sound. Stagecraft 1 is an introductory CTE course and is open to all students at any grade level.

Stagecraft 2 is a course in the Production and Managerial Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. Stagecraft 2 is primarily for 10th through 12th grade students who have completed Stagecraft 1.

Studio Art:

Studio Art is a course in the Design, Visual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. Content in this class includes visual arts construction, line and texture, color, and form and would be ideal for students interested in careers such as being a concept artist, graphic designer, 3D artist, or photographer. Studio Art is a first time course open to all students at any level.

Advanced Studio Art:

Advanced Studio Art is a course in the Design, Visual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. This class is open to 10th-12th grade students who have already taken Studio Art.

 

Ceramics CP:

Ceramics CP is a course in the Design, Visual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. Students in this class learn how to work with clay to create sculptures and pottery. This class is ideal for students who are creative or who want to learn how to be creative. Ceramics CP is an introductory course open to all students and grade levels.

Advanced Ceramics:

Advanced Ceramics is a course in the Design, Visual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. Students in this class learn how to use the pottery wheel, make glazes, and use a clay 3D printer. Advanced Ceramics is open to 11th and 12th grade students who passed Ceramics CP with C- or higher.

AP Art:

There are two pathways to get to AP Art: Ceramics or Drawing and Painting. Students interested in taking AP Art with a 3D need to have completed Ceramics and Advanced Ceramics. Students interested in taking AP Art with a drawing portfolio need to have completed Studio Art and Advanced Studio Art.

Photography:

Photography is a course in the Design, VIsual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School. Students learn to use DSLR cameras, composition, use of editing software and studio lighting. Students produce a final portfolio that is physical and digital.  Photography is open to 11th and 12th grade students.

Graphic Design:

Graphic Design is a course in the Design, VIsual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway at Sobrato High School.  Students create projects that include text, images and combinations of both.Class projects include creation of advertising and product labeling, posters, brochures, book covers, greeting cards, menus. Graphic Design is open to 11th and 12th grade students.
