Reading Difficulties Risk Screener for Grades K-2
Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, Morgan Hill Unified School District will implement a Reading Difficulties Risk Screener for all students in kindergarten through second grade. This brief, developmentally appropriate assessment helps identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulties—before significant challenges arise.
The screener is aligned with California state requirements and is designed to support early detection and intervention. By using this tool, educators can better understand each child’s reading development and provide targeted instruction and support in foundational skills such as phonological awareness, letter recognition, and decoding.
