Student Board Member Election 2024

ELIGIBILITY
Any high school senior in good standing (Class of 2025) attending Central High School, Live Oak High School, or Ann Sobrato High School enrolled in the Morgan Hill Unified School District during the 2024-25 school year may apply.  

APPLICATION PROCESS 

1. Call for 2024-25 Student Board Member announcement: August 22nd
2. Complete and submit an MHUSD Student Board Member Application (paper version OR electronic version) by September 5th by 8:00 AM (paper form can be sent to Kelly Schriefer, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent: schrieferk@mhusd.org or dropped off to the District Office, 15600 Concord Circle, Morgan Hill)
3. Qualified candidates will be notified no later than September 5th, in the evening
4. A high school-wide Google Form election will be held September 11th - 19th
5. The Student Board Member and Alternate Student Board Member will meet with the Superintendent on September 23rd at 4:00 PM
6. The Student Board Member Representative will be seated at the September 24th board meeting, beginning at 6:00 PM

TIMELINE

• Call for Student Board Member Election announcement on August 22nd

• Qualified candidates will be notified by September 5th

• Candidate statements and campaign videos due by September 9th at 8:00 AM

• Election will be held via Google Form September 11th - 19th 

• Contact and announce Student Board Member/Alternate Student Board Member) on Friday, September 20th

• Student Board Member and Alternate Student Board Member will meet with Superintendent September 23rd at 4:00 PM

• Student Board Member will be seated on September 24th at 6:00 PM

HOW TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION
Electronic version: This is the e-version of the application and it will allow students to submit their attachments electronically. NOTE: Students will need to sign into their district google account to submit their attachments below.
 

2024-25 Student Board Member Application

OR Paper version: All paper applications (found on our district website) must be emailed as one packet (Student Information sheet plus the copy of the student transcript, letter of recommendation, and written response) to schrieferk@mhusd.org.

VOTING
All high school students in MHUSD attending Central High School, Live Oak High School, and Ann Sobrato High School will have the opportunity to vote once finalists are selected in accordance with procedures prescribed by the Board. (Education Code 35012)

Election will be held via Google Form September 11th - 19th

TERM OF OFFICE
The term of Student Board Member shall be one academic school year. This year, the term will commence on September 24, 2023 and run through the first board meeting in June of 2025.
